Speak & Spell.
Perhaps the Stradivarius of circuit-bending is the Texas Instruments Speak And Spell, an electronic child’s toy that lends itself to the considered reconfiguration of its digital circuits to reveal a timbral pallette not usually found in the recording studio. By soldering a variety of switches, pots, LEDs, body contacts and vactrols to the circuit board, a musical instument can be created in a few hours with as much power as a modular synth. CV inputs allow for complex sequences to be generated in time to your Logic/Pro-tools/Midi set-up.
This version is a simpler Speak And Spell with less mods; the keypress glitches are more random on this one. Super-stable instrument for sampling and studio work, and I even re-capped it with military spec components for higher audio quality.
